So You’re Ahead on Wedding Planning…
What Else Can You Do?
Please keep in mind that these are all optional - your wedding should be a reflection of you and your partner! If something is listed here that doesn’t apply to you or you don’t want - always do what is true to you!
get started on basic seating arrangements for guests that have the highest likelihood of attending or groups like friends, work, college, etc
rectangular tables usually seat 8
circular tables usually seat 8 (most comfortable) - 10
start putting together Spotify playlists of songs to share your music taste with your DJ or live band - this also helps get you started if you are DIYing your music!
pre-ceremony playlist
important ceremony songs
family processional
partner 1 processional
wedding crew processional
partner 2 processional
you don’t NEED a different song for each of these walks, but these are all common options!
recessional
cocktail hour playlist
other important songs
grand entrance
wedding crew entrance(s)
couple’s entrance
first dance
parent dance 1
parent dance 2
(optional) parent dance 3+
(optional) other formal dances - grandparents, siblings, etc
cake cutting
bouquet toss
garter toss
last dance
dinner playlist
dancing playlist
a list of songs your DJ should NOT play
add more details to your wedding website
your love story
gallery of engagement photos
wedding crew profiles
lodging recommendations or hotel block information
recommendations for traveling guests (places to eat, things to do, etc)
weekend schedule + details (welcome party, rehearsal + dinner, etc)
wedding day schedule (basic timeline for guests)
start putting together your registry or setting up your gift funds
add to your website through integration or links!
start making a shot list for your photographer
list any photos you want to make sure are captured
think about details + moments that may be important to you
for example: spraying my grandmother’s perfume, mom zipping up my dress, etc
also think about formal + family portraits
list out the names of each group, for example:
(Bride) Rachel + (Groom) Lucas + Sisters Sara + Ashley + Wonder
Rachel + Sister Sara
Lucas + Sisters Ashley + Wonder
to set the vibe, add examples to a pinterest album to share with your photographer
save photos that you like the look/feeling of which you might like to “recreate” or have your own version of to help share your vision with your photographer
examples: under the veil, blurry, showing off the ring, etc
a visual example can be found here
start planning or making additional signage to elevate your day
welcome table examples
welcome sign
cards + gifts sign
guest book sign
polaroid sign
memorial sign
unplugged (no phones) sign
choose a seat not a side sign
gift/honeymoon fund links (see last note below!)
others: tissues, fans, umbrellas, etc
ceremony examples
programs
cocktail hour examples
seating chart
bar sign: open bar, signature drinks menu, etc
lawn games sign
other interactive elements: crosswords, board games, guest paintings, live artist explanations, etc
reception examples
seating assignments: escort cards or place cards
table numbers
menus or buffet labels
thank you notes
photo album sharing links (see last note below!)
desserts sign + labels
favors
others: flip flops, blankets
if you would like to go above and beyond to shout out your vendor team, having their social media handles listed on a sign would be a sweet gesture!
if you make QR codes for gift/honeymoon funds or photo sharing, please note that a lot of services will advertise as free, but only stay active for a little while before charging a subscription to stay functional! make actual QR codes close to your wedding day, or read the super fine print before sending your signs to the printer.
if you don’t have a coordinator, start assigning day-of roles to your wedding crew
for example, someone to make sure you stay hydrated, someone to assist the photographer in wrangling your family members for post-ceremony photos, someone to pick up coffee in the morning, etc
start shopping for the detail items that you want to include
if you haven’t sent your invitations: postage stamps
ring box
vow books
guest book
champagne flutes
cake cutting set
favors
gifts (wedding crew, partner, family, etc)
custom items (cocktail napkins, matchbooks, etc)
guest items (ceremony tissues, fans, bubbles, etc)
start putting together a wedding day binder to share all important information with your wedding crew and family
there are beautiful templates for these on Canva!
you can also include decor details, inspiration photos, space layouts and table assignments (with meal choice + allergy notes), but please note that your vendors may require this information in their own format or software as well!
start planning your ceremony script or writing your vows
provenance is a great tool if you would like some extra guidance!
don’t forget to include readings or unity ceremony details
